Charities

NWBears votes on a yearly charity to sponcer. In 2014 for the second year in a row our charity is Chicken Soup Brigade. Thanks to everyone who participated in Spring Thaw! Together we raised over $2800 for Chicken Soup Brigade! And a special thank you to our sponsors for the 2013 Spring Thaw, Steamworks and RSVP Vacations, plus The Cuff, Diesels, CC'Attles Seattle Sisters, and Quake Rugby whom help the NWBears make this happen. Chicken Soup Brigade believes "Food is medicine. It helps calm an empty stomach. It gives you the energy you need to get through another day. Our food program, Chicken Soup Brigade, is a leader in improving the nutritional status of individuals living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic conditions in Seattle/King County. In 2011, we filled 38,049 grocery bags with food and served 157,675 meals to people with with specific health challenges, such as HIV, high cholesterol, diabetes or other chronic illnesses. Food is Medicine We have decided to take the nutritional quality of our meals even further by ensuring that our meals meet the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association guidelines."

ANOTHER YEARLY NWBEARS CHARITY

Our annual Christmas Children Gift fund and Toy Drive charity event. Where a child's name with Toy and Clothing Wish tag is taken by members then the unwrapped gift items are delivered to the Dec. potluck with the name tag attached.  Also we take monetary donations to help support the event.  In 2013 we teamed up with The Cuff Complex in Seattle and  Club Silverstone in Tacoma where they put up a gift collection site for donations also.  Please help us next year make Christmas a happy time for those that are less fortunate.
